Claire is responsible for our competitions department, developing the company’s sustainability policy, handling project contracts and developing a new design enabling service.
She joined MRC from the Commission for Architecture and The Built Environment (CABE) where she was an enabling advisor for the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme. She worked with over twenty local authorities in the programme and has particular expertise in school grounds, current pedagogies and setting criteria for assessing good design. She worked closely with Partnership for Schools analysing the role of design throughout the process and co-authored the publication, Successful School Design.
Her experience at CABE has given her a strong sense of the positive effect good design can have on those using buildings (and the wider community), as well as, a detailed knowledge of complex procurement models user by government departments and agencies. Whilst at CABE, Claire also worked closely with the Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) to identify sustainability criteria for new settlements; co-authoring the joint CABE/Bioregional publication, What makes an Eco-town?
A qualified architect, Claire studied at Cambridge, The Royal College of Art and The Bartlett School of Architecture. She is a Fulbright Scholar.
