Aberdeen City Garden Competition update: two finalists invited to submit further work

Following the meeting of the competition jury in late November, two of the six finalists, Team 1 (Granite Web) and Team 2 (Winter Garden) have been invited to clarify their design concepts and substantiate costs and viability.

Malcolm Reading, competition organiser said;

‘This design contest has produced very exciting and contrasting responses.  The jury were unanimous in identifying the submissions by Teams 1 and 2 as outstanding; they also present Aberdeen with two distinctive and different ways forward.

‘These proposals are of such quality that the jury felt that to judge fairly between them required a deeper understanding of their respective characteristics.

‘This is not an unusual situation for such a complex design challenge.  We want the very best outcome for the city.’

The jury is due to meet again in the New Year to decide on an overall winner.  The winning design along with the TIF business case will then be submitted to Aberdeen City Council.
