Shortlisted designs for the Legacy Company’s South Park competition now released

South Park Competition now available to view online

The Legacy Company has released images of the competing designs for the major public space that will form the centrepiece of the southern part of the future Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Sitting between the Aquatics Centre, the Stadium, the ArcelorMittal Orbit and the 2012 Gardens, this space will have a visitor centre, water features and imaginative play facilities. This key area will welcome visitors and host a range of festivals and events.

The five teams in contention, as the competition draws to a conclusion, are:

  • Agence Ter with Heneghan Peng, Buro Happold, ARUP, Bartenbach LichtLabor and Gardiner & Theobald
  • Gustafson Porter with Niall McLaughlin, ARUP and Davis Langdon
  • James Corner Field Operations with ARUP, Make Architects, tomato, Piet Oudolf, L’Observatoire International, Groundbreaking, Playlink and Deloitte
  • Ken Smith Landscape Architect with Michael Maltzan Architecture, Buro Happold, Piet Oudolf, ETM associates and Davis Langdon
  • West 8 with Benthem Crouwel Architekten, BV bna, Buro Happold, Davis Langdon

Following the deliberation of the competition jury, a winner will be announced in December.
