Stowe House Preservation Trust

Stowe in Buckinghamshire is renowned for its beautiful landscape and the magnificent eighteenth-century mansion at the heart of the site. In the midst of an extraordinary allegorical landscape, Stowe House is a Georgian ducal palace a sixth of a mile wide, representing an immense legacy of architecture and craftsmanship.

Since we started work at Stowe, nine years ago, we have provided support and advice to the Stowe House Preservation Trust in delivering an integrated series of projects that will, ultimately, dramatically improve the visitor experience whilst providing a long-term sustainable plan for the future.

Our work combines strategy on funding, conservation, interpretation and joint management with the site partners, Stowe School and the National Trust. Separately we have provided project management services on some of the phases of the work, including the restoration of the South front, involving the planning and construction of the largest free-standing scaffolding in Europe at the time.
